I was honored to be a recipient of two Awards of Excellence at the 2011 DCTV Viewer’s Choice Awards Ceremony on Saturday. I had not submitted Fantastic Forum for consideration in this year’s awards and so I was pleasantly surprised to hear my name called for several contributions.
As a community media producer I believe it important to volunteer. I regularly lend my skills to other access producers and their studio and field productions. It is also a great way to encourage others to assist me for Fantastic Forum. I shared the Volunteer of the Year Award with Krushae Starnes, Kobie Nichols, Rhonda Starks and Shirley Thomas.
I was also recognized with an award for Social Media Usage for my efforts with this blog, the Fantastic Forum Facebook page and website. In less than one year use of social media has grown the number of people who “like” the FB page to over 2,000. And if you’ve been reading the blog you already know that people in dozens of nations around the world have loaded and/or played episodes of Fantastic Forum.
I’m continuing to learn more about the use of social media and other tools to increase the viewing audience for Fantastic Forum. Please help by telling your friends about the program. If you’re a fan of comics, sci-fi and fantasy genres and you enjoy what you’ve seen I encourage you to share this show with a friend. And send me an email to let me know what you think, what you’d like to see and what you don’t want to see again. You’re likely to hear your correspondence read on air as a part of the FF Mailbag! Thank you for your support and keep watching!
